Arizona was the 48th state to be admitted into the Union on Wednesday, February 14,1912.
Arizona covers 114,006 square miles making it the sixth largest of the 50 states. The population of Arizona is 5,130,632 people. Humphreys Peak located northwest of Flagstaff is the highest point in the state at 12,633 feet above sea level.
It was the last of the 48 continental states to be accepted into the Union. It would be another 12 years before another state would be designated.
